Homework
In class the students were given a list of past Provincial Exam Composition topics. The students were told to check off number 13, 19 and 22. They are to select ONE of these topics and respond with a composition.

The composition should be about 350 words. Students are advised to include a narrative element in their composition OR write a short story as their response.

Composition MUST be set out according to the handout issued earlier this semester, written in ink or word process on a computer, using one side of the paper only.

Students are advised to look at the handout issued after the first composition which indicated a number of problems that had arisen and to avoid these problems.

COMPOSITION IS DUE FRIDAY OCTOBER 11TH.

In class
Students were issued a poem, "As in the Beginning," with an attached assignment.

Students were taken through the assignment step by step according to a handout headed "Hints for responding to poem or short story."
After they had been taken through the step by step process, they were required to start responding to the question on the paper provided. They will be given an opportunity to finish this assignment at the beginning of the next class.

ANY STUDENT WHO WAS ABSENT WILL FIND THE HANDOUTS IN HIS/HER CLASSROOM FILE. THE STUDENT MUST GO THROUGH THE HANDOUTS, INCLUDING ONE ON HOW TO INTRODUCE QUOTATIONS WHEN RESPONDING TO LITERATURE. UNFORTUNATELY STUDENTS WHO WERE ABSENT WILL HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY IN  COMPLETING THE ASSIGNMENT ACCORDING TO ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS CONTAINED IN THE HANDOUTS; THEY SHOULD ENDEAVOUR TO  START TO DO SO BEFORE MONDAY'S CLASS SO THAT THEY WILL KNOW WHAT QUESTIONS THEY NEED ANSWERING WHEN THEY RETURN TO CLASS.
